Dear Sonoran Trails Families,
My name is Jennifer Reyes, and I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal of Sonoran Trails Middle School. As we prepare to launch into a brand new school year, I am filled with excitement and optimism about what’s ahead for our students, families, and staff. Middle school is such a transformative and important time, full of rapid growth, discovery, and learning. I’m thrilled to be part of this journey with your child.
There’s a quote by Mel Robbins that I believe captures the essence of middle school:
“You are not supposed to be the same person you were a year, month, day, or even five seconds ago. You are designed to grow.”
This time in your child’s life is all about change academically, socially, emotionally. Our goal at STMS is to help guide, support, and celebrate that growth every step of the way.
As a proud member of this incredible village, I believe deeply in the Kids at Hope philosophy: “ALL children are capable of success, no exceptions!” As a “Treasure Hunter,” I see it as my responsibility and privilege to discover the strengths, talents, and potential in every student. I’m also passionate about communicating and celebrating the amazing things your kids are doing because our students are accomplishing big things in both small and significant ways every single day.
I also want you to know that I’m not only an educator, I’m a parent, too. My husband and I have three high schoolers and one middle schooler. I fully understand the challenges, joys, and questions that come with parenting during these fast-moving years. Whether it’s navigating friendships, schoolwork, growing independence, or just keeping up with the daily routine, I’m right there with you. In fact, if you’ve ever had to remind your child for the tenth time to pick up their socks off the floor, you’re not alone! I totally get it. Parenting tweens and teens is a wild, rewarding ride, and I bring both my professional experience and personal perspective to everything I do here at school.
This year marks my 22nd in education. My background spans elementary, middle, high school, and college levels, and I’ve served as a paraprofessional, teacher, coach, and administrator. These experiences give me a broad understanding of the student experience and a deep appreciation for how vital the middle school years are in shaping who students become.
I also believe that strong communication between home and school is key to student success. I will make it a priority to keep you informed and involved, and I encourage you to reach out, connect, and share your thoughts. Whether it's at a school event, drop-off, or out in the community, please say hello and tell me about your child. Your insight helps us grow stronger together.
Let’s make this school year one of growth, connection, and celebration. Together, we can help every student thrive because at STMS, we rise as Stingers!
With enthusiasm and partnership,
Jennifer M. Reyes
Proud Assistant Principal
